The Dot-Award is an award for the best website on Europe, made by students.
Do you have an international class or would your class like to go international? Do it online!
If you work with your class on Europe in geography, history, by taking a trip or talking about intercultural differences, why not make a website about it together?
Why online?
- Because of our superfast communication lines, the world becomes smaller every day, and your students can not be more aware of it then by taking part in it. Through writing on the internet, you teach your students what international communication really means! What better way to send a message to the world then through the world wide web?
- Train your students in structuring the information they gathered and reproducing it through a new and challenging medium. The class will become more interesting and your students will feel excited about actually publishing their work for the whole world to see. What better way is there to push your students to do their best?
- The goal of education is to prepare your students for the future. If they don’t learn to communicate through the internet, how will they prepare for a future where internet becomes an essential part of life? Only by understanding how to adapt online information, they’ll prepare for their future.
Try it! And let us know how it went by subscribing your website to the Dot-Award. In April 2011 an international jury will decide which websites they like best, based on the content and structure of the website, not on techniques. The winner gets a beautiful reward for the international efforts of its class.
Example: http://fiskis5an.se
Which students?
Every student. You can already make a website with ten-year-olds. And as far as your students are inscribed to an educational institute, you can participate. The jury will off course take the age of the participants in account to evaluate each website.
Prizes?
We give a first, second and third prize. Each winner also receives a figurine.
