- Does the content capture the users’ attention? Do they use stimulating and original approaches and formats? For example: Do they use audio, video, ... and not only text?
- Is the website up to date? Do you have a reason to visit the website on a regular basis?
- Do you get the opportunity to actively interact with the content?
- Is the text readable? Not too small, not too large. Does the background color match the text color?
- Are the texts well written? Not too long, not too short, sentences not too long, active writing style used, ...
- Are the dimensions of the website good? Does it look good?
- Have they used alternative-texts for their images?
- Is it a dynamic website?
- Is their website an added value to the World Wide Web?
Usability: Is it an orderly and well structured website?
- Have they thought of the content before they made the website?
- Is the content user-friendly?
- Is it easy to navigate through the content? Is the navigation predictable and stable over time? Does the navigation always appear on the same place on every page?
- Are story-line, text, dialogues and images adapted to the target audience?
- Is the content available in the target group’s native language? If the text had been translated from another language has it been proofread by a native speaker to avoid misspellings and errors?
- Are instructions clear?
- Is the domain name simple and easy-to-remember?
- Does the website work in every browser?
- Does the website give an overview of the content?
- Is the information orderly sorted into categories? Is there a good prioritization of the information?
- Are the pages themselves well structured? Did they use tables or css?
Reliability
- Is the content reliable? Is the producer of the content clearly identified? Does the website include contact information?
- Is the content of the website in line with the national legislation?
- Are the visitors provided with the information they need?
- Is the content delivered in a consistent way?
- Has the webmaster made sure that the content does not infringe upon the copyright of other people/organizations?
- Is the content safe to use for the target group and does it offer any content which may be harmful to minors or could seriously impair their development?
- Does the website collect personal data? Is it truly necessary to collect the user’s personal data? Does the content provide transparent information on the confidentiality of personal data?
- Is the content regularly maintained and reviewed to ensure high quality?
- Did you find all the information that you were looking for?
- Are all the pages completed?
- Is there any information missing?
- Is the information useful?
- Is comprehensible and clearly recognizable information made available about the content of the website? For example: price, shipment, geographical restrictions, types of payments, ...
Competence and understanding of the internet?
- Do you have the feeling that the participant understands how a website works? How the internet works?
- Are their images online?
- Are the images not too heavy? Are they well compressed and made in the right time? How long do they take to load?
- Are the dimensions of the website good? Have they taken the ‘internet rules’ in account? (For example: scroll to the bottom is fine, scroll to the right is not done, logo in the top links to home page, ...)
- Do the hyperlinks work?
- Does the website work in every browser?
